BMW X3M / X4M F97, F98 valved exhaust systems

For the BMW X3M (F97) and X4M (F98) with the S58 straight six we supply the valved cat-back, with a single midpipe or an HFD midpipe with resonator, in T304 stainless steel or Grade 5 titanium, and the 70 mm S58 flange gasket. Everything ships directly from the Valvetronic Designs factory in Boyertown, Pennsylvania.

Two sound profiles

The single midpipe delivers the S58 raw and unfiltered: a deeper, more aggressive tone that is clearer and louder, with noticeably better flow and throttle response. The HFD midpipe with resonator (equal length resonated) balances the exhaust pulses, so uneven frequencies disappear and a smooth, motorsport-like tone remains. Both are a full cat-back: everything behind the catalytic converters is replaced. The X3M and X4M take the same cat-back.

Material and finish

You choose between brushed T304 stainless steel or Grade 5 titanium, which gives the lowest weight and a sharper tone. Titanium is available in the burnt gold and purple finish. The four exhaust tips come in brushed, burnt, black, forged carbon or carbon. Everything is mandrel bent and TIG welded, and the factory system can always go back on.

Valves and flange gasket

The valves link to the factory M1 and M2 modes, so the drive mode switches them. A separate controller for manual operation is also included. When you remove exhaust parts or fit downpipes, use a new 70 mm S58 flange gasket in stainless steel (OE reference 18308053348), available singly or as a pair.

Is the system the same for the X3M and the X4M?
Yes. The system fits the X3M (F97) and the X4M (F98), and both models take the same cat-back.
Do the valves work with the car's drive modes?
Yes. The valves link to the factory M1 and M2 modes. A separate controller for manual operation is also included.
Are the catalytic converters retained?
Yes. It is a full cat-back: only the section behind the catalytic converters is replaced.
How many flange gaskets do I need?
