Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86 Valved Sport Exhaust System

The BRZ and the GR86 are light, balanced and built to be driven hard, but the factory exhaust keeps the boxer engine muted. This valved cat-back system gives the four cylinder a voice of its own, and a button decides which way it goes. Valvetronic sells it under the name SHUTO.

Sound and control

With the valve open the gases leave with little resistance and you get the raw boxer tone this engine is known for, with a sharper answer to the throttle. With the valve closed the gases run through the Valvetronic rear muffler and it stays quiet enough for a residential street or an early morning. The valve works electronically: you switch with the wireless remotes supplied and no vacuum lines are needed.

Performance and construction

• Built entirely in T304 stainless steel
• Resonated mid-pipe that fills out the boxer tone, so there is no drone at cruising speed
• Mandrel bent piping with smooth internal transitions
• TIG welds, both for strength and for the look
• Dual exit with brushed exhaust tips that match the rear of the car
• Bolts straight onto the stock mounting points

Fitment and homologation

This system fits the Subaru BRZ from 2012 through 2026, the Scion FR-S from 2012 through 2015, the Toyota 86 from 2016 through 2021 and the Toyota GR86 from 2022 through 2026. It is the same car under three badges, so beyond your model year nothing else matters.
